Every year, the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) hosts one of the most fun competitions in the country, their annual “Mudfest.” This year marked the 23rd round of the event, and testing was more intense than ever. Twenty eight expert journalists spent two days putting the 27 vehicles in the competition through a series of tests. The models were tested on-road, and also on a custom made off-road course that pushed each vehicle to the limits. The courses helped judges evaluate models’ acceleration, panic braking, four-wheel or all-wheel drive system, front and rear-view cameras, and much more.
At the end of the day, it wasn’t surprising that not one but two Jeep® models topped their categories in this year’s Mudfest. NWAPA journalists declared the 2017 Jeep Compass the best in the Compact Utility Vehicle segment, while the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk came out on top of the Premium Utility Vehicle category. As the Mudfest Event chair, Tuan Huynh, said, “Jeep vehicles are renowned for going off the beaten path,” which is exactly what it takes to dominate at a competition like Mudfest. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is already the most awarded SUV ever, and the 2017 model is the most capable factory-produced version of the vehicle yet. The 2017 Jeep Compass, meanwhile, has been making a splash as it arrives at dealerships, allowing car buyers to enjoy the same capabilities that led it to victory at the NWAPA Mudfest.
If you’re looking for an SUV that will not only be safe, comfortable, and enjoyable on the road, but give you the capabilities you need for off-road fun, it’s hard to go wrong with NWAPA Mudfest winners, the 2017 Jeep Compass and 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Branford, New Haven, and North Haven drivers can find their perfect Jeep SUV for sale here at Executive Jeep, and embark on their own mudfest-style adventures.
