Every year, Cars.com evaluates car models of every sort and scores them on their American-Made Index. These models are evaluated on each of five elements: assembly location, the country of origin for the engine, the country of origin for the transmission, how many domestic parts they contain, and factory employment in the U.S. Once the vehicles have been assessed based on this criteria, they’re scored for the index and ranked. This year, the two top spots on the American-Made Index were both claimed by Jeep® SUVs.
The 2017 Jeep Wrangler ranked highest on the American-Made Index, coming out at 74% American-made for the 2-door model, and 75% American-made for the 4-door edition. Coming in just behind the Jeep Wrangler was the 2017 Jeep Cherokee, proving that Jeep automakers have done a great job keeping their vehicles American-made. As Cars.com executive director Joe Wiesenfelder points out, the military history of the Jeep company mean its American-made history goes way back. And here at your North Haven, CT Jeep dealership, we’re delighted to be able to assure our local drivers that when they get a model here, they’re getting a quality American product.
While the 2017 Jeep Wrangler and the 2017 Jeep Cherokee were the specific models to rank highest on Cars.com’s America-Made Index, it’s hard to go wrong with any Jeep model when it comes to a capable, comfortable, and exciting vehicle made right here in the U.S. So this summer, celebrate our country by investing in an American-made SUV.
