Every year for the past 50 years, fans of Jeep® vehicles and off-roading gather in Moab, Utah for the Easter Jeep Safari. The Safari is a chance for automakers to show off some of their best new Jeep models, as well as exciting concept vehicles, and to get from some of their biggest fans the feedback they need to turn these concept models into the best possible SUVs for drivers all over the country. This year’s Safari starts next week, and the automakers have revealed the concept vehicles that attendees will be seeing.

The Jeep Grand One was created to honor the 25th anniversary of the beloved Jeep Grand Cherokee, putting a new spin on the classic model. The model will be eye-catching, with an extended wheelbase and wood grain treatment. Inside, 90s touches will pay homage to the original Jeep Grand Cherokee, complete with a nostalgic “car phone.” But the concept model will also feature a 5.2 liter V8 engine, front and rear axles with selectable locking differentials, and powerful mud-terrain tires to give it the off-road capabilities needed for the Safari. Speaking of safaris, the Jeep Safari is another of the concept vehicles that will be on display. This model is all about the great views, with a translucent roof panel, clear vinyl and aluminum “windoors,” and outward facing rear seats. Combined with the legendary Jeep off-road capability, the Jeep Safari really would be the perfect ride for seeing the best that nature has to offer. Meanwhile, the Jeep Quicksand concept brings hot rods and SUVs together with an intensely powerful engine, an open top for the wind in your face feel, and a body and powertrain tailor made for wheeling in the sand.

These are just a few of the concept vehicles making an appearance at 2017’s Easter Jeep Safari, and it’s clear that Jeep automakers are doing a remarkable job of innovating. We may not be seeing a Jeep Safari on our lot any time soon, but we can see the same hard work, dedication, and creativity in everything from a used Jeep Cherokee to a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Branford and New Haven, CT drivers can find the right SUV for their on- and off-roading needs here at Executive Jeep in North Haven.
